At CelSian we strive to be the best partner for future-proof glass and support our customer’s journey to the energy transition with a range of measurements and custom experiments to understand glass melting. The Lab Project Leader is responsible for operating the US lab for CelSian which supports the glass industry in the Americas with specialized testing. This includes equipment operation and execution of various laboratory projects and experiments for our customers. The lab project leader is responsible for working closely together with glass manufacturers to optimize glass melting processes, developing new glass chemistries, and delivering analytical solutions. Furthermore, we work together with other partner laboratories around the world for specific analytical tests. We expect you to become familiar with all CelSian’s dedicated experimental capabilities, to maintain and improve these. You must have a strong interest to enjoy developing alternative solutions in our drive to support the energy transition of the glass industry.

 

Key tasks

  • Execution of various high temperature experimental trials following the agreed customer specifications
  • Analyzing and interpretation of measurement results
  • Provide accurate and detailed reports of the laboratory tests, reporting out to customers
  • Oversee maintenance, upkeep, and safety of the laboratory
  • Write procedures, test protocols and methodologies for analysis
  • Initiate ideas to develop new experimental test facilities to support our mission
  • Trouble-shoot and solve problems related to glass testing
  • Teach others, including students, about glass, melting, and lab testing
  • Present results publicly on behalf CelSian at conferences or in front of large audiences

Requirements

  • Bachelor in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar technical field
  • 5+ years relevant work experience in a laboratory environment
  • 5+ years in glass or a closely related field
  • Accurate, precise, and practical
  • Team player
  • Strong in project management
  • Strong understanding of glass, composition, raw materials, and melting
  • Strong hands-on acumen who can independently troubleshoot equipment
  • Fluent in English and prefer one more language (ideally Spanish)
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Travel: <25%

As CFD engineer at CelSian, you are responsible for the execution of various model studies for our customers. We have two different software packages, one for energy reduction (EBM) and the other package is a full CFD application (GTM-X). Both are developed in-house. We expect you to become familiar with both software packages and execute simulation projects in close cooperation with your colleagues in our modeling group as well as our customers. At CelSian we strive to be the best partner for future-proof glass. We have set the standard in modeling and simulation of glass furnaces in our industry.

 

Key tasks

  • Run and analyze simulation studies
  • Make project planning
  • Provide technical expertise in problem resolution, cost reduction, and quality improvement
  • Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability, and stability
  • Provide accurate and detailed reports of modeling results
  • Steer projects on customer-agreed KPIs: on time, right quality, within budget

Requirements

  • Master in engineering, physics or similar
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in glass manufacturing
  • Ideally, at least 1-2 years experience with CFD modeling
  • Precise, strong 3-D apprehension
  • Team player
  • Strong project management and computer skills

As trainer at our Academy you are responsible for running open enrolment and customer dedicated training programs. We are experts in glass melting and support the global glass industry with a number of trainings for furnace operators up to senior R&D and engineering teams. Our training offering comprises a mix of E-learning, online simulators, case studies as well as classical courses. We have developed a network of passionate and experienced glass experts and are continuously looking for part-time glass experts to further support and extend our training offer worldwide.

Key tasks

  • Organize and run glass trainings in your region
  • Acquisition of training participants
  • Sell company dedicated trainings
  • Analyse and report participant feed back

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in glass industry (R&D, engineering, operations)
  • Passion for glass manufacturing
  • Next to English, fluent in one of these languages: Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Portugese, Spanish, Italian or German
  • Strong communication skills (as trainer and towards global training network)

As a glass technologist in CelSian you act as scientific expert in glass melting processes, for our clients around the world as well as for CelSian colleagues. You lead and support multiple technical projects with key clients, and also act as a trainer for our Academy. 

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a global thought leader in specific domain of glass melting processes (‘claim’ the area)
  • Support CelSian Academy as trainer
  • Support our customers and CelSian team with solving technological challenges
  • Represent CelSian at (academic) conferences with remarkable contributions
  • Initiate ideas for new projects, and develop these ideas into customer supported projects
  • Connect, support and collaborate with multiple academic institutes on material and glass science (suggest PhD, Post-Doc programs, lecturing etc) 

Requirements

  • Master in process engineering, physics or chemical engineering
  • Passion to drive environmental friendly solutions
  • Fluent in English and one more language (ideally Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish)
  • Extensive experience in glass industry (or other energy intensive manufacturing)

As a software engineer at CelSian, you manage our various software packages. We have different packages that need to be maintained and updated to suit the needs of our customers and to be ready for the next wave in Artificial Intelligence. We expect you to plan and execute this work closely with our CFD modeling group.. 

Key tasks

  • Develop and update an agenda for our software packages
  • Keep our software running
  • Initiate and coordinate new software updates, based on customer feedback
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, development, and proposed solutions.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures to improve simulation operations.

Requirements

  • Passion for technology
  • Solid background in CFD (minimum 5 years of work experience)
  • Experience with Fortran / C++ / Paraview
  • Fluent in English
